The 559 isn’t just about food. Food feeds our bodies but music feeds our souls. And the 559 concepts has inspired musician/songwriter Tim Hockenberry to write and record music that touches on the people and places at the heart of American agriculture. Through Blackwing Records, Hockenberry will release an album of original music with shades of country, jazz and pop featuring world class musicians and themes from the American heartland.
Songs like Don’t Forget About That Train, Fresno, Frisco Line and the aptly titled, The 559 have a relaxed and rolling sway, much like the movement of the railway that inspired them. Hockenberry’s rugged and raspy voice evokes the feeling of a warm, backyard get together among friends and family, with food and drink aplenty. A celebration of life. And it comes as no surprise that this is exactly what Hockenberry and his band will bring to the 559 Pop Up stage when he acts as the house band, spreading feel good vibes to accompany the local farmers bounty.
Elaine Culotti’s brainchild, The 559 Farm Train is an
incredible idea that helps small farmers move food
throughout the country. This Eco-friendly Farm Train
works in tandem with the 559 Pop-Up Train.
While the Farm Train moves food throughout the U.S.,
the Pop-Up Train, with it’s expanding cars, hosts a
mobile town square venue filled with a farmer’s market,
restaurant, podcast car, large stage and more, helping
spread the word of the 559 Platform.
